Dozens of posts have simply vanished.
-
I went to link a new post I am doing to one of my earlier posts of 2016 and couldn’t find the older post anywhere.
On a closer review I discovered I am missing dozens and dozens of posts.
I have no idea what caused this. I am using WordPress 4.6.1.
That means that those posts have also disappeared from Google
search.How do I retrieve these?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Are you using a self-hosted WordPress site by any chance? Asking since all sites on WordPress.com run the latest version.
-
No, I don’t believe it’s self-hosted. I’m not all that computer savvy, but I believe wordpress is the host.
I just recalled that I did update a post order plug-in and a Yoast SEO plugin about the same time as the earliest post I have remaining from 2016. I have a post from October 1, 2016 and others I wrote after that, but all the rest from the whole year are gone and there were a lot of them. It looks like I am also missing some from earlier years as well.
October 1 or late September seems to be about the time I updated those two plugins. I have contacted both Yoast and the makers of the post order plugin, but don’t know if I will hear back.
All my missing posts are gone from google search and my visitor count has tanked. I didn’t know why my visitor count was dropping so fast, but now I do.

You may find this article explaining difference between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress.org useful:
-
My site is http://www.ironstruck. com
The host is hostgator now that I think of it. It’s a WordPress site hosted by hostgator.
-
Thats right, its a self-hosted site. The forum here can help you with only WordPress.com sites.
You may want to raise a ticket with Hotgator support and maybe look for answers in WordPress.org support (https://wordpress.org/support/)
