Draft incorrectly saved

  • Unknown's avatar

    I just saved a draft- however when I went to view it, most of my post was deleted except for a couple of lines of text. So the post exists- just not most the what I’d written. Has anyone else had this problem???

    Nope! Drafts are autosaved every few seconds, literally. So, if you can find the URL for the post, you may get your post back! Hint: Dashboard, Manage, Posts, Type:Drafts, Filter. ;o}

    Yes, other people have reported it recently, and it happened a couple of months ago, too. What happens is, everything after the FIRST autosave gets deleted. Staff need to know, so send them an email at support at wordpress dot com.

    Meanwhile, to avoid this in future, just before you hit publish select everything in the text box, copy it, THEN hit Publish, while everything is still highlighted. Usually it all goes through fine, but if it doesn’t, you still have a copy on the clipboard and can just go in and Edit and Paste. I always do it this way so I don’t lose stuff. It’s a good habit, since you just never know what can happen.

    Mine just disappeared before publishing. It was autosaved for edit, then save deleted it. I am still looking. :(
