Draft of a Post

  • Unknown's avatar

I’m working on a DRAFT of a post. I don’t want the post published yet, but I would like to see what the draft looks like. How do I work on a draft of a post and see what it looks like without posting it for the world to see? Thanks much.

Next to the ‘Save Draft’ button is a ‘Preview’ button. You can click that to see how your work looks as you go along.

I don’t see a draft button on the page that came up after I clicked on ‘New Post’. There are places where you click to write a post, another to click to post a photo, post a quote, etc. And there’s a publish post button, but no draft button.

Is there another way to put up a draft besides going to the ‘New Post’ button on the top right hard corner?

    Thanks

Save draft and preview are on the right, below the word ‘Publish’

That’s not what I have on my screen. I have a publish button and directly beneath that is a black bar and my blog.

There is absolutely no ‘save draft’ or ‘preview’ on the screen I’m working on, yet when I published a story about a week ago, there was one. I used it all hte time. So I need to get back to that page, but it can’t be done by clicking on New Post.

Everyone has a save draft and preview button. If you are looking for your Draft it’s in Dashboard>All posts

    1) “New Post” is an option in the grey admin bar. It’s meant for quick posting. For drafts and all, you need to use the regular post editor: dashboard sidebar > Posts > Add New (to create a new post), or Posts > All Posts (to edit an existing one).

    2) But! there’s a glitch with drafts: their content may disappear when you try to publish them. Better turn the post visibility to private when you start a new post, and publish it instead of keeping it as a draft. This way you (and only you) can also see how the post looks like on your actual blog, and you turn it to public when finished.

Thank you, that was an informed response. I’ll try that instead. Was about to send a screen capture of what I was seeing on the ‘New Post’ page, but couldn’t send the screen capture. Thanks for your help on this. Appreciated.
