Hi,
Just to make sure you’re looking in the right place.
To see your drafts, go to My Sites -> Blog Posts. You’ll see two tabs on the upper section: Published and Drafts. You should be able to see your saved draft here.
You can also access your drafts, by going to your WP Admin -> Posts. You’ll find All, Published, Sticky and Drafts on the upper section. -
The classic editor retains 25 auto-saved post revisions but the new Beep Beep Boop editor does not. The post revision management system is not built into the new Beep Beep Boop editor, so saving the draft saves only the most recent version, but not previous versions.
In the new Beep Beep Boop editor the most recent version is saved only on your browser, and is not auto-saved to the servers for your blog unless you click the save link once.
If you are using the new Beep Beep Boop editor please read:

/page/32?replies=942#post-2338964re: recovering a lost post or page
Please go to https://wordpress.com/post with the same browser and see if it offers to restore a post. If a restore button appears, that means a local copy was saved in your browser and you may be able to recover it.If the post was created on the dashboard of your own blog at Dashboard > Pages > Add New then you ought to be able to recover a lost post or page from revisions if needs be.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-revisions/See also if applicable > restoring from trash http://en.support.wordpress.com/trash/#restoring-from-trash
To locate draft POSTS Dashboard > Posts > All Post > Drafts
http://hollvill.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=postTo locate draft PAGES Dashboard > Pages> All Pages > Drafts
http://hollvill.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=page(If you are referring to a Page then see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-revisions/)
If you cannot restore from your browser, or locate a revision, or restore from Trash then the content has been lost and cannot be recovered.
I recommend:
1. Always create your posts on the dashboard of your own blog at
Dashboard > Posts > Add New and pages at Dashboard > Pages > Add New
If you have cookies enabled on your browser your preference will be saved unless or until your clear your cookies, and it will take you to the classic editor automatically every time you create a new post via the drop-down menu in the black admin bar or edit a post via the edit button on the blog itself.You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/
2. Immediately after creating a post and entering a title click the save draft link. Thereafter, “click save draft” frequently.
3. Always allow pages to fully load before clicking any other links.
4. Never leave a post or page open for content creation or editing and walk away from it, or open another tab in the same blog and work on something else while it is still open. Save it properly and return to edit it later.
5. Use an offline blog editor so you have backups on your own computer http://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

I’ve had the same problem as Holvill intermittently, for several weeks. Drafts vanish from the text editing box and cannot be found anywhere else. … A new problem this week is that paste-ins from MS Word are being stripped of all their formatting, becoming a great lump of text with no spaces. … I have tried changing my password to cure both kinds of strange behviour, but that does no good.
-
… Meant to add earlier that whereas Holvill might be a new blogger with WP, with a lovely first post, I have been a loyal user of this platform for 6 years. … Should not be having these problems …

@postgutenberg — will you start a new thread and add the tag Modlook to it so we can help you troubleshoot this? That way we’ll be able to see your site information and what not.

@timethief, thanks again for your work. Just as an update, the newer editor does actually save revisions every time a person clicks Save Draft. Right now those extra revisions are not accessible through the newer interface, but they can still be found through wp-admin.
The new editor also uses browser storage to store unsaved drafts. This can retrieve what someone typed if they navigate away.
You can test this by creating a new post, navigating away before saving a draft, then returning to the page. Even after I close my browser and return to wordpress.com/post, I’m prompted (until I start typing something else) to restore my post. Here are a few screenshots of this process in action:
https://cloudup.com/cdNfkujc9hOWhile I still strongly recommend saving drafts periodically, if this is not working for some folks, we’ll want to figure out what conditions it’s failing under so we can correct it. Thanks!

@supernovia
Thanks. I will not include the first 3 paragraphs of my copy and paste answer above in future threads.Note: I use only the classic editor and those who post about this issue do tend to be using the new Beep Beep Boop editor.

Thanks, I appreciate that feedback. If you notice any other trends (browser versions? bad connections? older computers? etc.) let us know.
I would also encourage folks to watch for that “Restore” notice, because if they start typing anyway, that clears out what was saved in browser storage. And, I personally always recommend saving drafts :)

@supernovia
Okay. If I see any “trends” like common factors (browser versions? bad connections? older computers? etc.) I will tag threads with modlook and then share what I notice. -
