Draft posts

I have nine draft posts which I store prior to publication. When I checked a few of these I find that they are empty. Where have the contents gone to?

    Hi there!

Can you let us know what the URL is of the site where you’re having this problem? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.

    Thank you!

  • Hi there – I took a moment to look on the back end of your site at mydailyartdisplay.wordpress.com and found the 9 draft posts you are referring to.

Of the posts I checked there does appear to be content saved.

If you still see no content, could you give us the title of a specific draft post so we can go look at that one with you?

    A couple of other questions:

    1. Do you typically work in drafts and not have any issues; is this the first time you’ve run into this?

    2. Do you by chance copy text from elsewhere and paste into your draft posts?

Looking forward to your feedback. :)

I normally create my posts in Word and then cut and paste into WordPress and it has always worked. This is the first time I have encountered the problem.

Take a look at the Draft post for John Koch Part 1. When you click on it there is just the headline and the rest is blank with an error message. But if you go to the top left “info” and click on it, it tells you the post consists of 11037 characters and 1733 words.

If you click on “Preview” the post comes up in full but you cannot publish it from that page. I can only publish it from the “Edit” page which is blank but will the words and pictures appear to viewers?

Most of the draft posts are blank but most appear when you on “Preview”.

The problem is I cannot edit the drafts

I went into the draft for that post and I’m showing the content of the post just fine: screenshot https://d.pr/i/rdSMAY

I’m also able to click in the Classic Editor block you’re using and can make edits without any problems.

Can you let us know what browser (and version) you’re using, your operating system (Mac, Windows, Linux), and any browser extensions you’re using? It’s quite possible a browser update or an update to a browser extension may be the problem here. Maybe try using a browser you don’t normally use and see if you still have the same problem?

    Thanks!

I have tried to look at the drafts using Google Chrome and they do show up. Again I tried to see them using Microsoft Edge and they do not appear. So thanks for the advice.
However as I have always used Edge with WordPress for many years without a problem I do not understand what has happened

  • Can you tell us what version of Edge you’re using? You can find those details here:

    http://supportdetails.com/

Do you have JavaScript enabled or disabled in Edge, and are you using any browser add-ons in that browser? If you’re using add-ons, does disabling them help at all?

    Microsoft Edge Version 90.0.818.46

    it then updated to 90.0.818.51

The only add-ons I think I have is Macphee virus protection but I have not added anything recently and this problem only occurred last week

  • it then updated to 90.0.818.51

I looked into that update a little and it looks like it was released on the 29th of this month. Is that right?

Would you say that timing coincides with the beginning of this issue as well?

I only just updated it today which was after all the problems with the missing drafts. It is hard to understand why I can see the missing drafts in Chrome but not in Edge

The My Sites pages on WordPress.com, including stats, the post and page editors, customizer, checkout, and account setting pages, use a type of code called JavaScript to work. If you have JavaScript disabled in the browser, most of what makes WordPress.com work won’t be able to load in your browser. Some theme features, like post sliders and slide-out menus, also use JavaScript.

Please check that you have JavaScript enabled in Edge. In Chrome, it’s on by default unless you disable it. This page will tell you whether you have JavaScript enabled or not, and has instructions how to enable it in the most popular browsers:

    http://enable-javascript.com/

Since you mentioned Macphee virus protection earlier, some ad-blockers and anti-virus browser extensions can sometimes block JavaScript. Try disabling those extensions and check if things start to work correctly. If so, add an exception for WordPress.com to the browser extension/add-on, and it shouldn’t block our code any more. The settings might be in Edge or it might be in your anti-virus program.

Let us know if you still have trouble. Thanks!
