Draft Randomly Stopped Saving/How to Recover from Cache

    Hello,

    I have scoured Google and other WP threads for help with this, to no avail.

    I am furious. A draft I updated around 7 PM last night (It is now almost 5 PM China time) suddenly decided to stop updating itself around that time. I had internet/VPN access the whole of the time I worked on this draft until 10 PM.

    3 hours or so of work is GONE. I have looked everywhere on the internet for advice on how to get it back. There is nothing helpful.

    I am extremely busy this week but was writing the outline of a post on a very historic event I was caught up with Sunday. I really do not have the time and, possibly, the memory to try writing everything that is missing from the post now.

    I cannot figure out how to acccess Cache or anything else various places on the internet are telling me to look for a back up. Jetpack is useless too. As is this supposed record of revisions to the post which, of course, stopped before 7 PM: https://southernerinshanghai.wordpress.com/wp-admin/revision.php?revision=1778

    WordPress it is 2022. Surely someone here has some idea of how a post THAT WAS AUTOSAVING THE ENTIRE TIME can be recovered in its entirety ?????

    I am sorry for my tone but I hope what I’ve written to this point explains why I have it. Thank you for your help.

    Sadly, I think this is one of those situations where technology failed you in some way. There’s no way to know if it was on your end (browser, internet service blip, etc) or on ours. But if there is nothing further in revisions, there’s nothing further we have. For whatever reason, the post didn’t save data to the system.

    This sucks. I acknowledge it. I’ve been in your shoes before, having worked for a long time on something and not had it save correctly. It feels terrible. I genuinely wish there was more I could do for you here. But I’m afraid there isn’t.

    Hi ozmodiar, well, I appreciate your honesty and empathy. It has been such a brutal work week I’m only now able to get back to this. I guess I’ll start reconstructing all I can possibly recall. Will be saving in Google doc or something from now on I think.
