When I edit my drafts they do move to the top of the column of my draft posts on this page http://thecavenderdiary.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_status=draft&post_type=post I don’t know whay that isn’t happening with your blog and will flag this thread for a Staff response. Please be patient while waiting.

Word of caution: many users have reported that the content of their drafts disappears when they try to publish them. That’s a glitch that has been going on for months (and WP has found nothing to say about this so far), so better avoid using drafts: when you start a new post, write a couple of words, set the post visibility to private, publish the post, continue editing and updating, turn to public when finished. As for your existing drafts, make sure you switch the editor to HTML and copypaste the content to a text file before publishing them, just in case.

@Panos – what if any effect would the Publish set to Private then switch back to Public have on email subscribers? What if I switch to html mode and copy all the Post when I click on Publish?

    Thanks

    1) Subscribers will be notified when the post is turned to public.
    2) Copypasting the content to a text file ensures you have a backup if things go wrong.

Why not just create it in an offline editor from the get go and only post it to the blog when it’s complete and ready to be published?

I use Windows Live Writer but there always seems to be some fine tuning once I get the draft online – I also have some of my articles peer reviewed to make sure I did not miss anything.

Many of my articles deal directly with boating safety and a serious error or omission could lead to property damage or someone being injured or worse – so I tend to error on the side of triple check and then some because of the stakes involved.

    Thanks
