Drag and drop not working in gallery in Chrome
-
I have tried several ways to solve the problem I’m having. In gallery mode using drag and drop to reorder images is not working. I have cleared the cache, the wordpress cookies and everything else I could think of and am now reordering by moving the image numbers around in text view. In IE drag and drop is working, so this would seem to be a chrome-issue. Just not one I can solve. Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Elsbeth,
I tried drag-and-drop to reorder a Gallery in Chrome just now, and could not reproduce the error:
Normally the culprit for drag-and-drop issues is third party cookies:
But you mentioned below that you checked the cookies, so I’m not sure what the cause is either.
Would you mind disabling some of your Chrome extensions while on WordPress.com and trying again? I could see where some Adblockers and the like could interfere with interactive elements like drag-and-drop.

Thanks! The third party cookies are enabled. I disabled all extensions, but that didn’t seem to solve it either. Could it be anything to do with using Windows 8 or the Twenty Ten theme? Selecting photo’s works fine, just moving them around doens’t,

Hi Elsbeth,
Since we can rule out cookies and extensions, what’s most likely is there’s some error in how your chrome browser is receiving our javascript files.
Could you please get to the “Edit Gallery” page (where you would normally drag-and-drop to reorder) and then open up the Javascript console as shown here:
If you’ll then attempt a drag-and-drop, and take a screenshot of the console, I can have a developer look at that and see if the errors help us diagnose this.
Once you have the screenshot, just upload it to your media library and we’ll take a look.

Thanks! Couldn’t seem to find an error, it’s in the media library: schermafdruk-2014-11-04-23-02-17.png. I’ve added an audit result as well.
[I’m getting a sneaking feeling there is something very stupid I am overlooking, just can’t figure it out – yes, I have restarted my computer ;-)]

Howdy!
yes, I have restarted my computer ;-)
Haha, we really are in that state of trying anything! Thank you so much for the screenshots. I’m getting a developer to take a look and see if they can come up with more ideas on what to test.
Thanks for reporting this, and for your patience. I’m sure we’ll get it worked out. :)

Hi Elsbeth,
So I had a developer look at those screenshots, and like you mentioned since we’re not seeing errors there’s nothing really to go on.
I’m running out of ideas of what to check… but a couple “silly” ideas based on our assumptions:
- Could you try logging into a friend’s computer on Chrome and trying?
- Check that your computer has the most recent version of Chrome?
- Check other javascript-based drag-and-drop applications in Chrome:
demos.telerik.com/kendo-ui/dragdrop/index
http://www.createjs.com/#!/EaselJS/demos/dragdrop
These are definitely small things but it might help think to the right track.
