Dragging and reordering the slideshow doesn't work
-
Dear Madam,
Dear Sir,When I try to edit a slideshow and want to drag and reorder the images, that feature doesn’t work. I can select an image , but can’t move it around to get a new ordering of the images.
Could you help me out?
I thank you in advance.

Hi Dennis,
Could you let me know where you trying the drag-and-drop?
Some people try to reorder while on the Edit Post screen, and the drag-and-drop won’t work there. You’ll need to follow these steps:
- Edit your post or page that has a slideshow gallery
- Click on the gallery, then click on the pencil that appears in the top left
- That brings you to this Edit Gallery menu. Here you can drag-and-drop the images.
- Make sure “Random Order” is turned off, since you’re specifying an order.
- Click “Update Gallery”
- The changed order will appear.
When you follow those steps, do you get any different results? If so, could you please take screenshots of anything that appears differently and upload the screenshot to your media library?
Best,
-Alex G.

Hi Alex,
Thank you for the quick response.
I did all the things that you write in your mail.
I uploaded three jpeg-files to the media library, so that you can see what I did.The strange thing is that when I am in the existing slideshow of my opening page and I want to change the order of things, that doesn’t work, although ‘Random order’ is turned off.
I can select an image, but I can’t move it around.I really don’t know what I am doing wrong, because I used to do this before and then it worked well.
So I’m very curious for your answer.
I thank you again for your good care,

Hi Dennis,
I briefly went into the gallery in your screenshots and was able to drag-and-drop to adjust its photo order.
This leads me to believe that there’s something functioning unexpectedly within your browser.
As a first step to fix this, could you please try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies? Explanation of that here:
Let me know if that helps. If not, could you then it out another browser (prehaps Firefox)? I’m not 100% sure which specific browser features affect drag-and-drop, so we’re experimenting a bit here. :)
Best,
-Alex G.

Hi Alex,
Because you succeeded in using the drag-and-drop feature in the slideshow on your computer, I logged in on my wife’s computer.
And yes indeed, I could move and change the order of the images. The same thing on my laptop. And we both use chrome as a standard browser.
So there must be something wrong with my computer. But I don’t know what.
Any help will be appreciated to find out what is going wrong.
Thanks for your good care and quick response!
Wishing you a nice weekend!

Hi Alex,
Now I installed Firefox and the problem has gone. So one way or the other some the chrome browser settings interfere with the drag-and drop feature in wordpress.
Thanks for the good advice!
Have a nice day!Dennis Metten

Hi Dennis!
Glad that worked out. :)
If you love working in Chrome, I’d suggest playing around with disabling extensions (while on WordPress.com) that may be interfering with the drag and drop. Especially things like ad-blockers.
We like to keep WordPress functioning perfectly on all the major browsers, so I’d hate to see you have to switch browsers just because of one glitch. But since switching browsers cleared it up, there’s definitely something in your Chrome setup that’s causing it.
Let me know if you track it down. :)
Best,

Dear Alex,
I still can’t get it the drag-and-drop working in slideshows in the chrome browser. So I help myself by using the mozilla firefox brower, if I want to make some changes. But in case you find an answer …
But now I have another problem with the Gigya screen. There are two widgets with a gigya shortcode that suddenly don’t work anymore.
It is the clock widget at the top left in sidebar one and the countdown widget in the same sidebar.
I haven’t changed anything, so I don’t know what happened.
Can you help me out?I thank you in advance,

Hi Alex,
I’m sorry I forgot to tell you the site where it is all about:

Hi Alex,
Site: https://fonteintjekoersel.wordpress.com
I think I know what the problem is. Chrome and the other browsers consider the script as insecure and they block it. When I clik in the right hand corner on the protection shield and allow the contents then the widgets appear. But it is impossible to tell my readers and viewers how they should handle this problem.
And when I go the Javascript console, I find the following text:
Consider using ‘dppx’ units, as in CSS ‘dpi’ means dots-per-CSS-inch, not dots-per-physical-inch, so does not correspond to the actual ‘dpi’ of a screen. In media query expression: only screen and (-webkit-min-device-pixel-ratio: 1.5), only screen and (min-resolution: 144dpi)
