Drop cap suggestions

I’m not fond of the new block editor, but the drop caps are a nice feature. I used to add them to my posts using HTML. However, I’d like to see two things added to them. One, the ability to change their font to match the headline font and/or be a serif font. They are meant to be decorative and sans serif fonts are not particularly decorative. Two, the ability to specify the color of the drop cap. Again, they are supposed to be decorative, and changing their color to match or highlight something in an accompanying image would really add some flair.

  • Hi! I know there’s a current discussion on typography settings, so I’ve noted your request there. I’m hoping we can turn the block editor into something you’ll love, and we do need the feedback to get there. Thank you!

Thanks, supernovia. Is that discussion on the forums somewhere? I’m a retired managing editor and would love to follow it.

  • It’s in the GitHub repository for the block editor:
