Drop Caps
-
I want to include a drop cap in my blog posts: not in the first word in the first graf but instead in the first word in the second graf. (The first graf is an intro graf for readers that sets up the post to follow. I format it in italics.) Does anyone know how to do this? I have tried a bunch of different ways but none of them work. Might this be because my theme template, Journalism v. 1.9, does not permit alterations, and thus drop caps? Thanks. – Mickey Murphy

@ Mickey Murphy,
You can also try this code:
<span style="float:left;color:#0f39a2;font-size:2.5em;line-height:1em;padding-top:.1em;font-family:Times, serif, Georgia;">L</span>orem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Duis sit amet ipsum tempor lorem ullamcorper ultricies vel nec turpis. Aenean sed scelerisque lorem. Class aptent taciti sociosqu ad litora torquent per conubia nostra, per inceptos himenaeos. Suspendisse potenti. Nam ut enim ante, et vehicula dui. In nunc lacus, aliquet egestas. You can change the color of the font, font-family, font-size, and so on.

Hi Silkbonez: The drop cap suggestion worked great. Thanks. You recommended this font (red: f00), however I did some searching and found a font color table on the Internet. I used that code to sub a dark gray for the red. First HTML thing I have done. Your advice is much appreciated. I applied the drop cap to all 3 of my blog posts. (I just started in July and am still feeling my way around WordPress, plus trying to find time to write.
