drop down menu
-
Hi,
Is it possible to add a drop down menu using CSS? Ideally, when you click on a link on my side menu, I would have more links unfold as sub categories.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You can add submenu items to Custom Menus. Add the menus, drag them into place below the top menu item you want them under, and then drag them slightly to the right so they appear indented. Continue till done and then save the menu.
Although there is only a single submenu item on the Blask Demo Site, you can see how it works there. To open the menu, click on the down arrow at the right end of “A Parent Page”.

Oh thats easy…the only issue is that I was hoping they would drop down when the mouse hovers over the parent link as opposed to seeing an arrow…

There are a few ways this is done. The arrow is one of the ways, and it works both with desktop systems with mice or trackpads and also works with touch devices such as tablets. With mobile devices, you can’t “hover” over something so there isn’t a way to get the menu to drop down. You have to tap it, and if there isn’t an arrow, and you want to visit the top level page, rather than a submenu page, you end up having to tap twice. Trying to accommodate both desktop and mobile devices is a serious challenge, and trying to detect which you are on so that you can have CSS for both is very hit-or-miss right now, especially if someone has things in their browser set up so that that information is not sent to the website (private viewing or using a proxy).
