Drop down menu on twentyten theme

  I could not find any precise information as to how to add drop down menu on my twentyten theme. Could you give me some pointers, please?

  If you only wanted dropdowns from a parent page to child pages, the regular menu of the theme does it automatically. When you use a custom menu, you create dropdowns manually; you drag items under another item then drag them to the right:

  I only want dropdowns from parent to subpages. How does one create sub-pages?

  I have added a child page by selecting the other one as its parent and it is shown as a separate page on the menu bar, not as a dropdown.

  Another question: is it possible to arrange categories with sub-categories on the menu bar as dropdowns? The page idea is not what I had in mind.
