Drop down menus are transparent now, hard to read (Please fix).
-
Why are the drop down menus now transparent and mix in with the other words in the background. There seems to no longer be a opaque solid white backing for the drop down menu to make the drop down menus options legible.
See my page here https://spitfiretortoiseshellpickguards.wordpress.com/order/
Please fix this asap as its making it almost impossible to use my page. Thank you.

Hey there,
It looks like the form block needs to be moved out of the classic block, whereby it’s possible to set the dropdown field background colour.
It’s then possible to set the field settings as seen here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/form-block/#field-settings
Please let us know if you need help making that change.
I hope this helps.

Hi Aleone,
Why did this just start to happen out of nowhere? It was fine a few weeks ago.
I’m really sorry, I didn’t understand where to even start looking at the link you sent me. Do I have the right version for all of those options? Mine seems to look different.
Could you maybe give me a step by step using my actual page here? It has a drop down menu towards the bottom.

Hello!
Why did this just start to happen out of nowhere? It was fine a few weeks ago.
It could be the result of the changes in Jetpack or WordPress Core CSS. We’re investigating the cause.

You’re using a Classic block to edit your page content.

Hi dragstor,
I followed step by step your image. That was very helpful by the way, so thank you. All that did was made my visual menu now only in html form written like this. I am not sure how to now edit or work with it since I am not a coder. All I need is my drop down menus to not be transparent. I am not sure what I need to add to this code to make them opaque again.

I really love the classic version because it visually shows me exactly what I am working with. I want to make a drop down menu, so then it shows me a drop down menu visually. Can’t get any easier than that. Can I keep this classic style and have my opaque drop down menus back?
-
Hi @spitfire57, I was able to duplicate this on my test site, so we’ll be looking for a solution. Cheers!
-
Thank you so much Supernovia. It was working a few weeks ago. So as the staff member said above, it might have changed something when they implemented stuff into the new system. I appreciate you diligently looking into this. My site is kind of messed up until then. So I truly appreciate it.
-
Hi guys, are there any updates? My website is suffering and all my drop down menus are not legible. Is there anything I can do in the meantime?
-
Hey there,
No updates as of yet, but rest assured we are looking into this.
A temporary work around would be to use the block editor as above – but I understand that there’s a whole page to rebuild there… so understand your position if this is an unfavourable option.
We appreciate your patience with this.

In the block format, I didn’t understand where or how to code an opaque drop down menu from what was given above. I didn’t have all of what was shown in the step by step, maybe due to a different version? If there is a quick code that I can add into the html format, I will do it as a temporary fix. My emails and correspondence with people are getting really messed up and people are selecting the wrong things and not seeing others.
-
Hey there,
I totally here you – I’ve deployed a temporary fix, so you shouldn’t be experiencing that anymore.
I’ve also created a duplicate of the Order TEST page, so start transforming these into blocks (if that’s of interest). It may be worth playing around and seeing if you’re able to take the content to the next level. :)
I hope this helps.

Thank you so so much. You are awesome!!! Its working now and I am seeing better communication instantly with my customers.
Where do I find this duplicate to check it out and see what you did? I guess I am still not understanding the benefit to the block format over the visual format. I love seeing exactly what it will look like and move things around so easily. From what I saw, the block format makes everything in coded html style which is Matrix code to me, lol. I am so busy with work, that I say the simpler the better.
Anyway, thank you so much again. this temporary fix will last until you guys update the true glitch? Thank you.

Ah interesting – I think there’s a misunderstanding here, and you were perhaps looking at code view… With the block editor, what you see is what you get, and you shouldn’t be seeing any code… It’s the same with Full Site Editing.
This guide here: https://wordpress.com/support/site-editor/ might help.
(Also, it’s possible to create a free site on the account and just play around with the editor, but understand this may not be viable if you’re busy :). )
Anyway, thank you so much again. this temporary fix will last until you guys update the true glitch? Thank you.
It will yes. :)
