  How do I change the drop shadow going down vertically along the back of the page?

  My guess would be that the ‘shadow’ is part of a background image. Modify the image in a picture editing programme, upload it and then link to it in the CSS.

  I suspect you are right. I was going to see what theme they were using and then “firebug” it to see how the designer did it.
