Drop the dates in blog

  • Unknown's avatar

    The customizer of the free Baskerville 2 theme of wordpress.com promises to drop the date of the blog articles. When I do this the dates seem to have disappeared, but when I update/save my preferences they are there again. Why?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Depending on your subscription plan, you may be able to fix this with CSS. Assuming that the customizer is not saving your options, go to the CSS tab in the customizer and add the following:

    .posts .post-meta {
        display: none;
    }

    This code will set the div with your dates to display: none which will hide the content.

    How do I remove the date in blog posts in the creative professional theme?

    Also, is there a way to allow more than four blog posts to display on the home page?

    Thank you!

    I am on the free program. So no access to CSS. A bit strange though that you have to correct manually something that is promised to be a functionality within the theme.

    Definitely strange. My approach only hides the content, while technically it still loads. It shouldn’t break the functionality of the theme.

    Have you tried logging out of WordPress, clearing browser cookies/cache, closing your browser, then logging back in and trying again? It’s possible that you may have shutdown your computer while working with the customizer, which can cause syncing problems between your screen and the server.

    Thank you for your effort to help me.
    I have just tried your suggestion. But unfortunately it didn’t help at all. When I am in customizer I can uncheck date, tag, category. It shows that it removes those things in my blog. But when I then save my changes, it seems to have reverted everything again: date, tag, category … they all are there again.

    At this point, I recommend you contact a Happiness Engineer, this seems like some sort of glitch in the theme. I hope they can help you fix this!

    Exactly. But on a non-paid subscription I can only post the question here.
    (https://en.support.wordpress.com/help-support-options/)
    But like you said it is some sort of glitch in the theme. Who can report it to the correct persons?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Here is the support thread for that theme, you may have better luck here reaching out to the theme designer.

    But that is wordpress.org, not wordpress.com!

    I have changed the interface language to English so that I can explain my problem in a bit more detail.

    I use Baskerville 2.
    I click on Customize.
    I click on Content Options.
    I uncheck Display Date in Post Details
    I see those dates disappear.
    I click on Save and Publish and there are those dates again!
