Dropcaps
-
Is there any way in WordPress, short of using a third party editor, to have dropcaps for the first letter of a blog article?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Searching works wonders See: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/code-for-drop-cap?replies=5

NIce answer…but still appreciated. BEFORE I posted this question I did a forum search for “dropcap” (without the quotes). Try it…NOTHING will show up.

Thanks…will try that next time. I just figured a regular search should find it…I was obviously wrong. I actually had the html for adding a dropcap, but I probably worded my question wrong. I was hoping there an automatic way to do this from within the WordPress editor. It’s so easy to just turn this feature on/off in most all the external WordPress editors, like MarsEdit, etc.
I was hoping to do this all from within WordPress, but I guess for some of the automation I’m going to have to use another editor that plugs into to WordPress. Thanks again!

There’s no automatic means of doing this on a free hosted WordPress.com blog just as there an automatic means of indenting every paragraph. There is no FTP access to our free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install plugins.
Note that the Book Lite theme is designed to have dropped caps. http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/book-lite/

edit: “there an” was meant to be “there isn’t a”
P.S. Sorry about the obvious missing words and typos. I’m visually challenged and having a bad vision day.

Understand. I was just talking with the folks at MarsEdit and they say their editor (which can do this and many other things like wrap text around images within a post, will work just fine on a WP-hosted blog. I think I’ll give their trial version a spin…it might just be worth the $40.

It sounds like Mars Edit may be your solution then.
