dropping followers unintentionally?

I’ve gotten a few dozen complaints from people who seem to keep getting bumped off my blog as followers and must than re-follow. I notice my number of followers never really seems to change, too. I’ve never dumped anyone or clicked to have then unsubscribe and people tell me they haven’t either. So how come people are being unsubscribed unwillingly?
