how do I mimic the format of DrudgeReport.com

In other words, not just have my links on sidebars with blogrolls, but on the main page of blog right below the current, newest blog.

I’m sorry but the Links widget and all worpress.com widgets can only be displayed in your sidebars. They cannot be used on posts or pages.

This however is not to say that you cannot manually create as many links as you choose within a post http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/07/01/how-to-write-links/

Just my opinion, but the “Press Row” theme is probably what you are interested in. It has the most “news room” feel to it in my opinion.

    Hope this helps.

There is no way to imitate the format of the Drudge Report in a WordPress.com free blog without a LOT of coding. You could use Pressrow or Journalist and put a lot of tables in, to get the columns, but it would be a total pain in the ass and you’d have to completely redo them by hand. He’s not using a template, his site is custom-coded, and rather primitively too I recall.

I with you though – Drudge site is totally cave drawing style, but damn we love those cave drawings! They are famous!! I would love a theme that was link heavy – gives you more editorial control. But the idea of writing many links in the post area is a great idea!

One thing to keep in mind is that I think search engines look a little suspiciously at posts that are really heavy on links and may not give you as much juice. At least that is what I’ve heard. Google “link farm” and you should find quite a bit of discussion.
