Dual blog?
-
I’m starting a new blog for 2 people – they want one blog site with two blogs columns, one for each author. There would be one main header and then 2 blog columns underneath. Can this be done?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is the blog going to be self-hosted, or were you going to set it up here at the wordpress.COM hosting service?
With a self-hosted blog on a third-party hosting site using the software from wordpress.ORG, it is possible, but you would have to have a pretty good knowledge of PHP script as well as CSS to do it. I’ve never seen any pre-made themes like that.
Here at wordpress.COM, you cannot have the two side by side. What you could do with the right theme is assign each author a category that they would assign to all their posts, and then use a trick to have a tab at the top of the browser open a categories page for each author.

Thank you. I was going to set it up on wordpress.com. If I want to do what you suggested about assigning each author a category and have tabs for each, what is the “trick”? Do I need knowledge of PHP for that?

@ 4peoplewhothink,
No PHP. We can not use PHP with wp.com. It is an html trick that wordpress.com does not acknowledge. And it is theme dependent. Look at this information:

That might work. Thanks, and one more question, if I may. I am so new to this. Is it possible to add a company logo to the top of the blog?
-
You would have to pick a theme with a customizable header, but there are about a hundred of those.
You can also just put the Author widget in the sidebar and then ppl who just want to read one author’s posts would click on that author’s name.

A hundred with customizable headers??!! hmmm… ≥^,^≤
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/category/header-customization/A text widget in the sidebar, with the company logo would also work.
Author widget in lieu of the tab links would work very well in any theme for readers to find posts by one author or another.

@raincoaster
Sorry, I’m not understanding? Wp.com has 74 themes to choose from. Not all of those have customizable headers?29 of those have headers that can be customized, as I referred to. ???
-
That’s weird; I could swear it’s not what I saw last week when I was showing people around. Then again, my mind is going, lately.
-
Yikes!
You must remain as sharp as ever—I’ve learned ever so much from you!
Are you thinking about the CSS customization of the sandbox themes? I’ve not ventured into CSS, but I’ve seen, somewhere, references to a contest or a section(??) about that?
at any rate, the OP had answers.
best to you…

Ha, after a double espresso the brain is working somewhat better and I’m relatively sure I just swapped a 7 for a 2 somewhere in my synapses. And the CSS skins thing is quite different; there’s literally no limit to the number of options there.
