Dumbest Questions of the Year (So Far)

I’m new to WordPress, and have set up a blog…and have figured out some of the features, but I’m totally confused about comments. Here are two questions I hope someone will help with:

    1. I made two posts on my blog, then logged out and came back to the site (as if I were a visitor) and made a comment. Then I logged in and approved the comment. But when I log out again and go back and look at the blog page, under the post there’s a notation that says “1 Comment” but the comment itself doesn’t show up. If I click the “1 Comment” link as if to read it, I then see the entire post with the comment at the end of it. Is that the way it’s supposed to be?

    2. Also, how does another person leave a comment after one comment has been left? There’s no link that says “Leave a Comment.”

OK…I told you these were dumb questions…sorry.

My blog address is: http://(email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Thanks for any help.

No, your blog address is not http://(email visible only to moderators and staff) but http://katiescup.wordpress.com (no “at” sign).

Answer to question 1. Yes, that’s how it is supposed to be. Comments always show up on the post’s single page.

Answer to question 2. When someone is reading a post (on the post’s single page) right at the bottom of the page will always see the comment textarea (because 98% of the time the comment fields are at the bottom of the page). No matter how many comments there are, the user will usually scroll all the way down to write his/her comment.

    HTH.

    1. Yes, the comments do not show on the main page and one of the reasons for this is that if you get a lot of comments, then people would have to scroll down a long ways to get to the next actual post. Comments only show up on the “single-post” page, which you get to by clicking on the comment link on the post, or on the post title. I have friends that sometimes get over 300 comments on a single post. THAT would be a lot of scrolling.

    2. If they click the comment link, or the post title on the main page, then they are taken to that “single-post” page and at the bottom of the page will be the comment box where they can add their comment.

Thanks to both of you for your replies…and also thanks for pointing out my error in the way I typed my URL. I can’t believe I did that.

With your replies in mind, I’ll go back to my blog now and see if I can see what you’re describing.

Thanks so much for the fast and good replies.
