Changed to duotone, but the comments boxes are showing on all posts when I dont want
them to, except for the very last blog. Can this be rectified?

We can set any post to accept comments or pings.
Under the editor box on any post we see:
    Excerpt
    Send Trackbacks
    Discussion
    and under Discussion we see:
    ___Allow Comments.
___ Allow trackbacks and pingbacks on this page.

Have you set all the posts not to allow comments? If so and there is no comment functionality then is it just the words “Leave a Comment ” you want to remove? We can’t edit our templates so you cannot remove the words that way.

I believe that removal would require a CSS editing upgrade and I’m not even sure that it can be done without eliminating the other metadata.

Posts>Edit: click box to the right of “Post” to select all the posts on the list, select Edit from the Bulk Actions dropdown, click Apply, select “Do not Allow” from the Comments dropdown, click Update Posts. Repeat for the next page of posts, etc. To reduce the number of times you’ll have to do this, you can click Screen Options and set a very large number of posts per page before you do the bulk editing.

I’m not sure I explained it well-
I do want comments but I dont want the actual
comments box to appear under the posts, as
in “Leave a Reply.” This is not appearing on every
    page, but a large number.
If you look at the blog you’ll see what I mean

The blog is showing one post and clicking “leave a Comment” is unproductive. Please just give us the URLs of the posts you want us to look at.

Monotone and Duotone are not “normal” blogging themes: they are designed as photoblogs, and part of their design is displaying single posts only. In all wp.com themes, when you view a single complete post you get the comments and the comment box with it unless you’ve turned comments off.

So you’d better switch to another theme: in all other themes, your posts page will display your most recent posts (number of posts set in Settings>Reading) without the comments and the comment box.
