Duplicate account?

    Hey guys,

Newb in the WordPress department and I’m going in circles trying to migrate my blog from wordpress.com to Netregistry.

I installed a plug in to my console (using Cloud hosting – no cPanel) for WordPress, adjusted some settings inside my dashboard to re-direct to http://www.sessmachine.com/wordpress and now I can’t access the wp-admin page at all.

I can log in via wordpress.com website directly, but it seems to take me to a duplicate or incomplete account. If you click on the sessmachine link above you can see there is a theme, (albeit broken) but on this account there are no themes and personalised information is no longer there.

I wasn’t able to transfer any data across to the new host because I stupidly changed the address over without doing the ground work first. I’m unsure on how to go forward from here since I’m not even sure if this is the correct account I’m accessing. Any help would be appreciated, but speak in simple terms where possible.

    Cheers!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello sessmachine!

Let me help you with that! First, the two sites are different things, they are not related, one is hosted at WordPress.com, and another one at Netregistry (we call that a self-hosted WordPress.org site). You can check the link below to see the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org sites:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

The sites are not the same. One is at “sessmachine.wordpress.com”, and you can access using your WordPress.com account. The other one you have to go at http://www.sessmachine.com/wordpress. It looks like something is broken on your self-hosted site. Since it looks like there isn’t any content there, I suggest you start over and install the WordPress again on your host. You can get in touch with their support if you need any help. I didn’t find any content on your site at WordPress.com too.

Also, you can check the support forum for WordPress.org sites on the link below:

    Thanks for your reply, Carinapilar.

I ended up un-installing and re-installing the WordPress application to the self hosted site and my account was back, but bare. I then, stupidly, repeated the same mistake, however even without access to the dash I was able to change the site url via the database (which held my php admin) and viola! Site is back again.

Lesson learned. Thanks for your help :)
