"duplicate" blogs after going premium?

    I upgraded a new blog I created straight to a premium .com name (jilljillian.com).

    I haven’t yet used it, but when I upgraded it from the wordpress.com version to the plain .com version, duplicate blogs started showing in my wordpress user account.

    I want to delete the junk one (the wordpress.com one) because it’s unnecessary and super confusing. But with all the warnings about deletion, I’m worried it will somehow mess up the REAL domain that I want to keep! (jilljillian.com).

    Help??

    Why do I have these duplicates and is it safe to delete the wordpress.com version of my domain?

    Hi aloverforthebean,

    I am a little confused. Did you create a new blog and then upgrade it to jilljillian.com? Or did you upgrade your original.wordpress.com blog? If you created a new, additional blog, this would be why you are seeing more than one under your user account.

    If that’s the case, you will want to transfer your “old” blog to the “new” blog. This link will be helpful in walking you through the process. You will want to look at the first category, Moving Between WordPress.com Blogs:

    I’m not quite sure that’s it. Let me try to explain better.

    I have a primary blog I’ve used for a while, aloveforthebean.wordpress.com.

    I added a NEW blog to that account, which although I would swear I registered as jilljillian.wordpress.com, comes up as what appears to be jilljilliandotcom.wordpress.com

    I would swear I then upgraded that one to become jilljillian.com.

    Why, then should I still see BOTH jilljilliandotcom.wordpress.com and jilljillian.com in my list of blogs registered to my account?

    Thanks again for any further clarification – and if you suspect it’s still a matter of moving the one I no longer want over, I’ll go ahead and do that.

    I should also note that there’s nothing on the jilljilliandotcom.wordpress.com blog that I want, so exporting seems silly. I just want this blog to go away!
