“Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that! “
-
When I try to respond to comments readers have left on my own blog, I keep on getting the following error message:
“Duplicate comment detected; it looks as though you’ve already said that!”
It doesn’t matter what I say, I get that message, so it’s got nothing to do with comment duplication.
What’s going on?!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Now when I try to post a comment, I don’t even get an error message. The only thing that shows up is “-1” in a little pink box with a red border.

Hmmmm. The mystery deepens.
When I actually looked at the blog post I was trying to leave a comment on, all my comments had been posted even though WordPress told me they hadn’t.
When I tried to delete the “test” comments (made to see if the problem had been reoslved), I got the error message:
“Oops, no comment with this ID. Go back!”
-
I’ve just had exactly the same message when I tried to respond to a reader’s comment on my own blog – I edited my comment twice to try to remove any redundant material but the message keeps coming up no matter what. All my comments (the orginal and the edited versions) appeared in my list of comments on the dashboard but none have published.
Help! Help!

Well, the problem seems to have fixed itself out albeit in a weird way.
(1) WordPress told me I couldn’t post comments because they were duplicates…but the comments *did* post!
(2) When I tried to delete all the “test” posts I had made, WordPress told me I couldn’t…but the comments *have* been deleted.Strange.

I’m also having the same issue if you check the article you were replying on you will see your comment went through even though you got the error message.
I suggest contacting Support and let them know whats going on so the they can fix the issue. http://support.wordpress.com/contact/
Solution until issue is fixed I recommend clicking the # symbol on the right side of the comment and reply from the blog view. here is a image reference where to find the # symbol –> http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/1062/comment3.png
I will also “ModLook” the thread to bring this thread to staffs attention.

It doesn’t seem to be theme related. I’m still getting the duplicate error from the dashboard but now when I click refresh the comment shows up on the dashboard.
