Duplicate content and canonical links

I want to avoid getting penalised for SEO by re-publishing some of my blog posts on another site who have asked me to guest-write for them. It would mean the same post appears on 2 different wordpress sites.
I have read you can avoid this issue by inserting a canonical link into the head of your post. However, I can’t work out how to do this on my site. Basically, if there is a way to indicate to google that all content on feelbetterclinic.co.uk appeared there first and should therefore be credited with any improved rankings. The other site are happy to just use my content and aren’t worried about getting the rankings. I just don’t want either of us to get penalised for doing this. Thanks in advance!

Hey there! You are correct about Google’s recommendation for canonical links. You can’t modify the <head> section on posts on WordPress.com sites. But, you don’t actually need to do that on your site since that is the canonical page.

Rather, the blogs that will be syndicating your content will need to add that information to the page on which they repost your content. Hopefully, those sites are on a platform that supports the ability to add the rel=canonical tag. If not, you might want to consider writing something original for those sites and then placing a link back to your own site somewhere in the text.
