Duplicate content between old and new blogs
-
I had a blog on wordpress.com, and decided that I needed to change its name.
I did what made the most sense to me at the time, and did “export” of the old blog, and then “import” to the new one (also on wordpress.com).
I forgot that the old blog was already indexed in Google.
Now, even though my new blog has a lot more content, all the old content is still indexed on the old blog.
How do I get the old content un-indexed on Google from my old blog, and re-indexed from my new one? -
Go to settings > privacy and make the old blog private. “I would like my blog to be visible only to users I choose”

Thanks for the quick reply.
A further question, though – what will that do with all the links that currently point to my old blog?
Is there any way I can do redirect 301? -

OK, thanks.
In the end I set privacy to keep blog visible to regular users, but not to search engines. Will that solve my problem – i.e. links to my old blog will still work for humans, but the blog will be invisible to Googlebot?
Do you have any idea how long it takes for Google to “un-index” my old pages?
