Duplicate content in WordPress.com blog and self hosted site
-
Hi ,
If am migrating all the contents from my existing wordpress.com blog to a self hosted site powered by wordpress.org
Will it amount to content duplication and punished by search engines ?
In that case , what should I do to be on safer side ?
Should i delete the contents from the wordpress.com blog ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Right now you can go to settings > privacy on the blog here and set it to the second option to allow normal visitors but blog search engines. Once the new blog is up and running, leave on last post on the old blog with an announcement of the move and a link to the new blog and then set all the other posts to either private or “unpublish” them.
If I were you, I would leave the blog here as is, but just set it to private. That way if in the future you would want to resurrect it, you can.
