Duplicate image in blog overview, NOT in individual blog posts.
-
Hi, I started with the theme Independent Publisher, and I love the way my individual blog posts are displayed – on top a (cropped) detail of an image (NOT featured), and then below the title the same picture smaller, and not cropped. But when I go to the blog posts page, where alle blog entries are displayed (most recent on top), I see that the image is duplicated. Whereas first there was the nice contrast with a detailed crop, I get to see the same, identical picture. The are no images selected as ‘featured image’, and I don’t know what causes this problem. Many thanks from Belgium.

Hi there,
While you don’t have specific featured images set, you have your site configured to use the first image in the post as the featured image. So the cropped image you see on a single post technically is the featured image.
Your theme is also designed to show the featured image on the main blog page, so if you’re using the first image in the post as featured, it’s expected that the image will appear twice on the Blog page.
To prevent that, go to My Site ->Customize ->Content Options, and unselect the option that says ” Display on blog and archives”. It looks like you’ve already done that, and I no longer see any duplicated images on your Blog page.

Hi!
Indeed I was looking left and right, and I came to unchecking “Display on blog and archives”, by trial and error, without really understanding. Your explanation about using the first picture as a technically featured image makes this clear. I actually like the way it is presented now, although I stumbled upon it by accident.
Thanks for looking into this!
