Duplicate login clash – lock out

  • Unknown's avatar

I have a Word Press account and created a site locally using Local by Flywheel. In trying to upload my site (first one) to go live, I installed he one-click WP plugin in my hosting cPanel and in the process seem to have created a duplicate WP login for the same email address. As a result, I can no longer access my original WP admin that was associated with Local by Flywheel. I keeps giving me an ‘incorrect password’ message and when I try to use the ‘lost password link’ option to my email, it does not send – I have tried numerous times via different browsers. I’m locked out, and I need in! I believe that if I delete the more recently created account, that I may not only still not have access, but also may be locked out of creating a new WP account to even start over as well. Any suggestions would be so appreciated.

We can only help with sites running on the wordpress.com platform. Support for sites using the open source wordpress.org is at https://wordpress.org/support/

My enquiry is relating to wordpress.com – not org. From your response, it may be that I have used some incorrect term in my enquiry.

  • @sfourlewis what is the URL of the site you need help with? I do not see any sites hosted here at WordPress.com when I check your account:

    https://wordpress.com/sites

To clarify, we are a different host from Flywheel (who also offers WordPress hosting) so we cannot help with sites set up on their service. If you need help with a WordPress site on Flywheel you can ask their support for help with your cPanel installer issue here: https://getflywheel.com/wordpress-support/

We do not have cPanel here on WordPress.com, so we would not be able to help with that issue thanks!
