Duplicate of new post – blank page

This afternoon I posted a new blog, here: http://shoreacres.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/bread-and-roses/

Looking at my sitemeter details later, I discovered one person had accessed this page: http://shoreacres.wordpress.com/08/14/2008

On the second, blank page, you can get to the post by clicking the blog title or sidebar link, but I have no clue where the blank page has come from, or how to delete it so no one else finds it.

I went through my posts, thinking I might have published it myself, but it doesn’t show up anywhere on my dashboard.

    Any ideas or advice?

  • Do you mean http://shoreacres.wordpress.com/2008/08/14/ ? The URL you show isn’t valid. URLs with the date formatting are built in. Also see that http://shoreacres.wordpress.com/2008/08/ and http://shoreacres.wordpress.com/2008/ also work.

I’ve been going through my sitemeter stats double checking all this, and I think I found the problem, although I haven’t a clue how it happened.

The second URL I reference – the invalid one – is EXACTLY the way it shows on Sitemeter. That’s the problem – the date sequence is different than all the others. There are three folks who have tried to get to my site tonight and sitemeter is showing they entered via that invalid URL.

What I need to know is where it is hidden, and how to get rid of it, because people obviously are accessing it.

I see that the date sequence is wrong, but somehow it has gotten into the system and I’ve got several people who have gotten blank pages with the message, “Sorry, no posts fit your criteria.”

Is there a way to check and see how that invalid URL got generated? (Sorry if I’m asking the questions awkwardly – I’m quite new to all this.)

    Thanks!

  • This URL shouldn’t be anything generated by WordPress.com. I searched through some of your content and couldn’t find it anywhere. It would have to be something you’ve entered into a post/page or a link from another site.

Thanks so much! Since it’s happening only occasionally, I’ll just keep an eye on it. To this point the folks who have found the “blank” page have figured it out, as their exit page is a valid one.

I’m not aware of doing anything myself, but that surely doesn’t mean I didn’t. Appreciate the assistance.
