Duplicate page/post keeping footnotes
-
I wrote a post, whose text contains footnotes. In order to break it post in smaller posts, I thought that I could duplicate it and erase in the duplicate the sections that will remain in the original post.
When I duplicate it, the text of the footnotes is lost.
Is there a way to duplicate it without that happening?Thank you.

Hi,
Thank you for sharing this. Apparently, this is a known bug. I’ve added your post to the issue page to let the developer know the bug is still reproducible. https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/issues/39603#issuecomment-2782299203

Do you (or somebody else) know, if this problem pertains to WordPress or to the theme. Whom could I ask for this information?

On WordPress.com platform, Jetpack provides a duplicate function for the post/page. But, since Jetpack is integrated within WordPress.com, its bug affects overall WP.com functionality regardless of your theme.
If your WP.com plan includes the ability to install plugins, you can install an alternative duplication plugin, like Yoast Duplicate Post. https://wordpress.com/plugins/duplicate-post
But if you’re on a free plan, I just found out that you can get around this bug by following these steps:
- Open the post you intend to duplicate.
- Navigate to the 3 dots option on the right canvas.
- Select duplicate. See this image for reference: https://imgur.com/KwkdkVH
- Type in the new title, and hit the Duplicate button.
- See the duplicated post now listed as a draft.
- Make edits to the draft.
I hope this answers your question and solves your problem. Though, I’m curious why your initial message get disappeared?
