Duplicate posts on my Reader

    Hi, I am seeing duplicate posts on my Reader feed on WordPress.
    My site is : https://theglitteringsoul.com

    Is there a technical problem at my end ? Or do I need to get settings fixed?

    Hi there @starlite42001 thanks for reporting this. Do you mean you see duplicate posts for your own site in the WPcom Reader? The Reader feed for your site is at https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/108750504 and I only see one duplicate post there, but it looks like that post, My Postcards #2, was reblogged by a different user account and then deleted. (temporary screenshot) If you are seeing something different, please share which posts are involved. Thanks.


    @ryrhino00     kindly note here that the issue concerns the WPcom Reader, so there is no reason to send the user to the ORG forums for this. Any site connected to WordPress.com via Jetpack has a feed automatically created for it in the Reader, just like WordPress.com sites.

    Hi, I can see the same as you too, if I access it from the WP Reader, but when I access my own site from my mobile on the WP Reader, I see duplicate posts for every single post!

    This is why I needed help to resolve this.

    Hello again, Thanks for providing those additional details.

    I viewed your website in the Reader in the WP Android App and do not see any duplicate posts there, not even the “My Postcards #2” post.

    I also viewed your website directly on my Android phone using Firefox and do not see any duplicate posts there either

    Then, after logging in to my WPcom account on my Android phone in a mobile browser, Firefox, and viewing your site in the Reader there, I do see the same “My Postcards #2” post duplicated as I mentioned earlier; one post from another user having been deleted, but no other duplicate posts. I am not able to explain why you see all your posts duplicated on mobile.

    I’ve gone ahead and flagged Staff on this thread. Thanks for your patience while they get back to you.

    Hi there,

    The My Postcards #2 post shows twice, because it appears you published a post with that title, deleted it, and then published a new post with that title.

    It looks like Jetpack did not remove that deleted post from the cached version of your site on our end, so it also still exists in the Reader feed. I’ve started a full sync for your site. Give that 24 hours to complete, and check if the Reader still shows the duplicate post.

    If it still shows it, we can force a refresh of your site’s Reader feed, but that will require completely wiping your site’s Reader feed from our system, and then it will only re-fetch the ten most recent posts. In other words, posts older than your ten most recent ones will then not appear in the Reader at all. So we’ll need you to confirm you want us to do that before we can proceed.

    That is specific to your installation of the mobile app.

    Try logging out of the app and back in. If that doesn’t work, go to app settings on your device and completely delete stored app data for the WordPress app. Then log back in.
