Duplicating Theme Settings Parent page to Child pages

First , my apologies for what I am sure are n00b questions – but trying to be efficient in time etc.

I am using the Rockwell Theme.. and in the Parent page I have (finally) gotten the page, menus etc to look as I would like them to. I want the theme/layout/menus etc to copy over to the child pages and looking for an easy and efficient way to do that ?
Thank you in advance for your kind/patient assistance.

  • Howdy –

Thanks for reaching out. No shame in learning or trying something new. We were all n00bs at one point. I’d argue it’s something we should be more celebratory of because it would be easier to never even try! Congrats and welcome from myself and the team!

To start, let’s first make sure I understand the situation you’re asking for help about. To me, it sounds like you’re seeing the site menu differently on the front page versus the other pages of the site. Is that right?

For examplek, when I look at these links below the menu appears the same on all of them.
    https://ffmrofs.wordpress.com/
    https://ffmrofs.wordpress.com/ffmrofs-wordpress-com/spiritual-life/
    https://ffmrofs.wordpress.com/ffmrofs-wordpress-com/prayer-request/

When I click through the pages in the menu, the actual menu continues to appear consistently for me. This is why I’m asking for clarification. If you’re able to add screen shots with an image block to your reply that would be great. Bonus points if you can include the URLs from the sources too.

Hi ZInnia ! Thank you so much for your reply.. Of course part of the joy ( and your confusion ) is that I have been attempting to figure things our on my own since the original post and so some things have of course changed –

I found the toggle to add the menu to the pages. (great ) and Now that works Got the pages ordered in the Menu, and linked the Subpages to the main page.. in the main page – ( https://wordpress.com/page/ffmrofs.wordpress.com/43 )

As you can see, the background picture covers the entire page with text in the middle and menu where I wanted it at the top. This page will be static and unchanging BUT then I get to the subpages , for instance – ( https://wordpress.com/page/ffmrofs.wordpress.com/77 )

The problems I have is the the Page Title shows up in the top in black , in what I would refer to normally as the Header (?) and when in the editor I could remove the text, but the space remains, the image does not cover the entire background, etc.

And as long as I am taking up your time (sorry ) I need to understand how to make the Primary Menu to add a Sub-menu items in a dropdown ? I would suspect that would be done by creating other pages and making them sub-pages of the Menu Item (Page) where it is supposed to go ?

    And Final question –

In this page the layout appears to be in a 3 column layout of some sort where the image again does not cover the entire page – ( https://wordpress.com/page/ffmrofs.wordpress.com/88 )

So what I was thinking was that if I got the Main Page to display correctly that the Theme/style / etc would replicate in the subpages.. This obviously has not been the case .

Hopefully the links I included are also able to be viewed and the issues were clear enough –

    And Thank you again..
