Duplication of photos after import from blogger

Hey all,
I just imported my blog on blogger to wordpress, but now every photo (and boy there are a lot) is now duplicated in the media folder. Is there a known fix to this or is it actually intentional?Cheers and thanks!

Hi there,
It looks like the duplicates are scaled-down versions of the original images most probably meant for thumbnails.
You can delete all the contents of your site and re-import them to see if the issue persists. Here’s how to do that:

I’ve also tried resetting my blog to the default blogspot theme and re-importing again, but that yielded the same result. Everything is still duplicated. Are there any other fixes I could explore? Thank you so much.

What is the URL of the site you are importing the photos to? I don’t currently see a WordPress.com site under your account. Was it all of the three sites you have deleted?

Hi! I created several new sites to retry the importing process and removed them again because manually deleting thousands of images is just too much work every time. It was indeed every of the deleted sites. Should I recreate one so you can follow the process? Thanks!

Hm, it sounds like the file you’re uploading includes both the original images and their thumbnails versions. Were these images added twice to all posts or just duplicated in the media library?

Thanks for confirming. That doesn’t sound like something that could be automatically fixed, those files are coming directly from the original site. I’m afradi you will want to remove the thumbnails manually :/.
