Duplication of sidebar
-
When I tried to drag in a text widget (now it’s gone), it made all of my links which were in the right sidebar move to the left sidebar, now they are on both sides. Same for the Search window. How can i get them back on just one sidebar?

Hmm…
On the Sidebar choices, did you choose Sidebar 2 instead of Sidebar 1? There is a dropdown box above the sidebar edit.
Also,
Did you press Change and Save Changes?

It shows main sidebar (which has everything) and right sidebar which is empty. In reality I have items on both sides (I have a three column theme). I had two search widgets one right one left. I deleted the search widget and now only one shows on the right, even though it is gone from my widget list. I am afraid to try to delete the links widget to see if it gets rid on one side of them, for fear I could lose all my links.

If I drag a widget back into the unused list, will any data in the widget be lost. For example the links I have in my “links” section which are connected to the widget?

Apparently, some widgets in some themes are hidden and cannot be edited. I took out a widget and the duplication left, but the orignial widget remained, even though it does not show in my used widget page.

What has worked for me, is to drag the text widget into the sidebar, then click “save changes” at the bottom of the sidebar area, then go back and move it and open it for edit. When done, then hit “save changes” again.
