Dusk theme: display of categories is changed

    See my blog: http://islamu.wordpress.com

Category “invisible” was really invisible before a week or so. It has no posts, only subcategories. My idea was to add categories to my posts without cluttering categories menu.

Is this only temporary (I’ve seen other template changes that dissapeared in time), or is it here to stay?

    Thanks

I’m not clear on what your difficulty is. Categories are “tags”. The category tags you assign to your posts are the way other people locate your posts through the use of search engines on any given subject, and the purpose of blogging is to have other people read what you post. You alone decide how many category tags are assigned to your posts.
Consider a library without a catalogue where people just wander aimlessly through the selves searching for invisible subject matter hidden behind obscure titles. Is this what you are trying to achieve with an “invisible category” tag? If so then simply remove the sub-category tags and the search engines will not find your posts.
If that’s not what you’re trying to achieve but what you want is less in your sidebar then simply drag and drop your category widget back into the available widgets space instead of the sidebar.
If that’s still not your aim then you could leave the categories widget in your sidebar and open it and uncheck “show hierarchy”.
If that’s still not accomplishing what you want to achieve then remove the invisible category.
It would be easier to help you if you would explain why you created such a thing as an “invisible category” and what purpose you intended it to serve.

I thought that I did explain. But then I do tend to assume too much. :)

The thing is that I noticed that category with no posts is not displayed, even if it contains subcategories that do contain posts. Maybe this was actualy a bug, I dont know. I used it to add categories to my posts without having them in categories menu. Like category “islam”, I deem that it is understood for my blog and as such I do not want it in categories menu in sidebar, but I do want someone to find my posts when browsing through that category (on global level). Now this changed, and my “invisible” category with all its subcategories became visible.

    Thanks.

I recommend that you send in a feedback [she said mopping her brow]. If it’s a bug then I haven’t heard of it. And you did of course use the forum search box prior to posting to see if there were threads about auch a possible bug in the Dusk theme, right? Well, just in case you didn’t – here are some threads I don’t have time to read
