Dyad

Hi,
I’m preparing my new blog ‘Koloniale Monumenten’ (colonialmonuments) to be published, with the use of Dyad.
Question: Sometimes I prefer the text column in the middle of the post page, without using the highlightened picture to the left, but then I don´t get that picture on the front page, which ´breaks’ the patchwork design of that front page. Is there a way to combine things?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You would be able to hide featured images on single posts with custom CSS, which is available with the Premium or Business plan.

Thanks, Kathryn,
Unfortunately I´m not known with that kind of programming.
Another question: is it possible to highlighten the text in the footer of Dyad? It´s terribly dark down there. Even the Facebook and Twitter-buttons are grey! It´s so sad, and so much in contrast with the bright appearance of the rest of the page!And please, don´t repeat your answer ;)

Dyad comes with five free colour palettes in addition to the default. You might like the contrast on those schemes better. Head to the Customizer’s Colors & Backgrounds panel to preview them.

Thanks Kathryn!
I’m working with very specialized content: Dutch history of the Dutch East Indies. Since 5 yrs I’m using the twentyten theme for my main blog Java Post: http://www.javapost.nl, but since long looking for something visually more attractive, more modern.
http://www.kolonialemonumenten.nl will be a spin off. The difference between 2010 and Dyad seems to be of generational dimensions. Hope to continue with 2010 until I find something better for that theme, too… So far I didn´t find it. -
Definitely light years of difference between the two themes. :) One of the biggest issues with Twenty Ten is that it’s not responsive, so it doesn’t adjust automatically for smaller screens. I’d be glad to help you find a new theme for Java Post if you tell me what you’re looking for, either in terms of look and feel or feature-wise.

I’m just setting up my blog with the Dyad theme. I can’t get the yellow “Read More” block to appear on all of my front page posts. It randomly appeared on one of my posts, but I don’t know how it happened, so I can’t reproduce it. Can anyone help?

Kathryn,
My blog http://www.javapost.nl is a kind of magazine, with lots of content about a niche subject, the history of the Netherlands East Indies. My readers are basically 30+ yrs old, many of them 65+, with an educational level above everage. Some 2000+ followers, 400.000 views/yr.
I publish some two times a week, with an article length of 500-3000 words. Illustrations (photos, maps) are important.
What am I looking for? Something new, something modern. A kind of journalists theme with
– high readability (big clear font, clear outlook);
– responsive;
– preferably two colums, with sidebar;
– easy to find – and use – comments. Every article leads to some 30-50 comments, per average.
– easily transferable from existing 2010 theme, with no hassle to change all the pictures.Every new theme I’ve seen so far didn’t offer what I was looking for.
Maybe I didn´t see options you know of…
Btw, I don´t mind paying for the theme if it solves my problem :)
Appreciate your help.Bert

Thanks for passing along your requirements.
Some themes you might want to check out are:
Colinear – https://colineardemo.wordpress.com/
Classic look and feel, lots of sidebar flexibility (1, 2, or none, in different positions)Franklin – https://franklindemo.wordpress.com/
Comes with three other free colour palettesNucleare – https://nuclearedemo.wordpress.com/
Also comes with three free colour palettesMany modern themes work best with images that are larger than the ones you have in the much-older Twenty Ten, so if you wanted to avoid uploading larger images that rules out a number of themes. Let me know what you think of the above possibilities.
