Dyad Issues
-
Hello,
I’m having a couple of issues with my theme, Dyad.
Firstly, I’ve noticed (mainly on mobile) that ads are showing directly over menus, firstly right at the top of the page a drag down ad is showing, and then secondly over the menus at the bottom of each page. Is there any way to change where ads show/remove them from these locations?
Secondly, on the home page, the “read more” button only shows on certain posts. I use the read more tag on every post, so I’m not sure why this would be?
The blog is at the following address:
Many thanks! :)

Hi there,
I don’t see any ads like you’re describing using Chrome on Android. I can see the standard ad units for free plan sites at the bottom of post/page content, in the footer, and occasionally the header ad that you can collapse by clicking/tapping on its tab, and aside from the collapsible header ad, none of the ads are covering any content on your site for me.
Can you please give me more information on the type of mobile device and browser where you’re seeing these?
Can you also please take screen shots of the ads and upload them to your media library at My Site ->Media so I can see them?

Hey,
Thanks for the quick reply. :)
I’ve uploaded the screenshots onto My Media. I noticed the ad issue on Firefox, running on an Android device (S9). The header ad is collapsible, but the footer ad has been covering the menus. Doesn’t appear to on Chrome Android though (that I’ve noticed).
I’ve also uploaded a screenshot of the “read more” button issue. :)
Thanks again!

Thank you for the screen shots. I don’t see that in Firefox on Android either, though – I see an ad above your search widget, and then again way at the bottom below the Facebook widget, with no overlap.
So I wonder if it might not be something specific to your device/browser.
Can you please try viewing your site in an incognito tab in Firefox and see if that makes any difference? If it does, then it could be something in the browser cache, or an add-on in the browser that’s causing the problem.
Regarding the Read More button (sorry, I missed that question yesterday), that depends on whether or not you use a custom excerpt on your post. If you set a custom excerpt, this theme will show that excerpt on the front page, while completely ignoring the post content, including the Read More tag, and it won’t show a button.
If you don’t set a custom excerpt it will automatically use the first few lines of the post and include a Read More button, and it will do this regardless of whether or not you included the actual Read More tag in the post itself.
In other words, in this theme (as with most grid-based themes) it doesn’t really matter whether you use the more-tag or not – because of the way the theme displays posts on the front page it will always just show a short preview rather than the full post. But what does matter is whether you’re setting a custom excerpt, or whether you’re letting the theme create the excerpt automatically.
