Dyad theme – featured image always blurred
-
We’re using the dyad theme and have set a featured image for a blog post. The image is very sharp and we have tried both an image of the exact recommended size as well as larger. What we find though is that it always shows slightly blurred.
It’s almost as though the image is cropped to slightly too small and then stretched. I don’t mind the cropping, we can work with that, but I’m trying to get rid of the blur on images that are super sharp when viewed in the media library.
Any suggestions? Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?

The amount of blur seems to depend on the browser used, on my Chromebook it’s not as bad as Chrome on a Macbook, but both are blurred.

Yeah I looked at the image at full size after posting this and noticed it wasn’t as good as I thought. Not sure what happened there so will upload a better image.
Does WP do any compression on images uploaded?
So the dyad theme, is there a way to stop it from zooming on the image and just crop to the desired size? Would uploading a larger image work?

Yes, but it should be “lossless” compression.

No, since the theme adjusts to different screen sizes automatically.
Would uploading a larger image work?
No, you’d need to start with a less grainy original.
