Dyad Theme: Read More Button help

    Hello!

    I have recently switched to the Dyad theme (which I love) and I cannot work out the Read More button. I have added them to all my posts but when you are on the homepage you do not see it displayed? I have checked and I have no excerpts or anything else that may get in the way seemingly. In the theme info, you can see lovely Read More buttons displayed on posts and this is what I’d like to replicate.

    Hi Heather,

    I’m glad you like the theme!

    Dyad will only display the “read more” button on posts that don’t have a custom excerpt or more tag.

    I can see that you’ve added the more tag to your posts. If you remove that, Dyad will automatically pull in an excerpt of your post to the home page and display the button to “read more.”

    Is there a way of controlling how much text it shows as it’s pulling quite a lot through at the moment?

    Hi Heather,

    Dyad doesn’t allow control of how much text is displayed in the excerpt. You can either use the default excerpt that’s generated by the theme or only display the post’s title.

    If you decide to upgrade to WordPress.com Premium or Business in the future then you could make use of some custom CSS to hide some of the excerpt. (The ability to add CSS is a Custom Design option that’s only available as part of those plans.)

    Hi, I’m also having problems with the read more buttons and having read the above I cannot see that I have any custom excerpt or more tags but mine still do not show. Please help. The Blog is https://ballydrew.co.uk/

    Hi @theqtips,

    The more button isn’t showing up in your case due to the text of your posts fitting into the boxes on the home page in their entirety. The button to “read more” isn’t needed as visitors to your site can see all of the text from each posts’ box on the home page.

    This is a design choice by the theme’s author.

    If you’d like to get the button to display, you can add more text to each post.
