E-Commerce Site
-
HI
We recently had a Marketing Company design us a website for our business, but prior to the site being completed we decided to terminate the relationship with the company due to non-performance.
As termination of the contract we agreed to pay x amount of money and got the files of the website sent to us. It is now up to us to complete or redesign the site.
Can anybody please provide me with some advise on how to go about getting the site files imported to my WordPress account so I can continue work on it and get it up and running ASAP.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If you want to host your site here at WordPress.com, and do ecommerce, then you’d need a business upgrade – https://en.support.wordpress.com/ecommerce/ ($299)
As for transferring files in, would depend on which elements of the site you’re talking about. For ecommerce site you’d have a) a theme, b) plugins, c) products/images/pricing/product meta data and optionally d) posts e) pages f) testimonals g) widgets/widget setup e) any custom code to modify wordpress
Some of those you could do yourself, some of those you WONT be able to trasnfer into WordPress.com namely plugins and themes which don’t already exist here. WordPress.com is restricted in what code will run here.
WordPress.com only support Cumroad, Ecwid and Shopify … so if your site is based on another ecommerce framework it wouldn’t work on WordPress.com
My personal advice would be to look into self-hosting your ecommerce site, and hire a contractor to do the necessary work for you – because ecommerce sites in my experience are quite involved !
I can’t as per this forum’s Code of Conduct recommend a contractor, doing so could get me suspended or banned from here.
As for hosting companies, Dreamhost and Bluehost have been recommended by others. Personally I prefer to build my own sites on Digital Ocean due to the flexibility that offers, and that it is scalable to *ANY* size/traffic website.
Hope this helps

WordPress.ORG has a listing someplace on it called “Code Poets” – people and companies that specialize in WordPress.ORG sites – sorry I don’t remember the URL
-
Code Poets is just a listing thing – @timethief puts a link to it a couple of times a month – has not got her in trouble to my knowledge – I have seen however some folks get their keyboards whacked and warned for suggesting a specific company or saying that they do that work (I think one got a suspension for a while for soliciting work – I would have left the Code Poets link if I had it – but I am to tired an lazy tonight to look for it
But you are right – the staff do police the forums if anyone solicits work or sends people to a specific company – that is why most of us just send people to the WordPress.ORG hosting link of the companies and don’t mention specifics – or it is a “I use this, but there are a lot of others out there” – as you did above – and you did not leave a link that has affiliate code in it
-
Thanks for info @auxclass, it’s no worries for me personally …
C of C is plain on promoting commercial consultancy services, which is what CodePoet is, a directory of “commercial WordPress consultancy services” – so @timethief would be making a CoC violation in posting a link or mentioning it …
WordPress.com Forums Community Standards :
“Do not spam the forums, post links to sites that violate our ToS, or promote commercial WordPress consultancy services. Any posts like these will be deleted.”

Will Theme Apostrophe at any time be upgraded to premium?
I want to use ecwid and since apostrophe is not a premium-theme, it is not possible at the moment.
But there is no option for me to change to any other premium sites, because apostrophe is, in my eyes, the most wonderful you guys ever created :)

Hi folks, you can post these links to listings:
http://directory.codepoet.com/ – A vetted directory of professional developers (because a directory isn’t the same thing as a consultancy)
http://jobs.wordpress.net – A place to find and post job listings
http://wordpress.meetup.com – Find your local WordPress group and get recommendations from within your community
We just don’t allow direct promotion of individual contractors or consultancies in these forums. Hope that helps :)

And, @daniegabbyscupcakesconz, I too would probably recommend using the files on an individual WordPress.org installation, since your custom theme and plugins and what not could not be uploaded here. Or, if you’d like to start fresh, you can upload images and content here. Cheers :)

@supernovia
I did know that but thanks for the confirmation. Will you please close this thread before it gets hijacked again? -
@doncharisma, I’m closing this thread. You are aware that a link your own contact form is not a directory listing.
The sources I listed are vetted and well trusted within the WordPress community. Please use those.
