  just wondering how it would be possible to receive an e-mail affiliated with an account that I am not currently active on? It is affiliated with the e-mail, however I haven’t connected it anywhere else that I know of.

  yes, it came associated with this e-mail but it was from a business that I had had business with recently and it was the first e-mail I ever received affiliated with that account so it concerned me.

  So, the email wasn’t from WordPress.com, right? If that’s the case, that business already has that email address and that’s why they emailed you.
