E-mail alteration

    I have changed my e-mail, received the confirmation and clicked on the link. However, my e-mail was not altered.

    Are you looking to change your WordPress.com address, or an email address?

    I am trying to change my e-mail address. The one I use to login. I have already requested it and received an e-mail from WordPress with a link to confirm the change. However, after clicking on it, the old e-mail still remains. If I go to settings, there is a message on my current e-mail (the one I am trying to change) saying that I have a pending alteration.

    WordPress.com isn’t an email provider. An email forwarding service is available as detailed here, but it’s not the same as having an entirely new email address: https://en.support.wordpress.com/email-forwarding/

    That will help you to create an email forwarding address to match your blog’s domain name, but will redirect emails to your existing address.

    If you’d like to change your original email address entirely, that’s something you’ll have to take up with your email provider (Outlook, Gmail etc.)

    Geekinthegirl, thank you for your kind support. However, I guess I am still not making myself clear. I am not trying to forward messages. What I mean is that 1) I have changed my e-mail from X to Y at Gmail; 2) I am trying to update WordPress with my new e-mail at WordPress Account Settings; 3) I have entered my new e-mail address; 4) WordPress sent me a confirmation link; 5) I confirmed by clicking it; 5) When I try to login at WordPress, it does not recognize my new e-mail. What am I missing? Take Facebook for example, if I want to change my login email, I go to settings, change it. Facebooks sends me a confirmation link, I click on it and a new tab is opened. Bang! That takes me to Facebook homepage. I use my new email address and I now I can access it using my newly made email :)

    Hi there,

    I checked your account and I see that your email address was successfully changed after your last message. Is there anything more I can do to help?

    In general, if you’re having trouble with an email change a good approach is to cancel the pending email change and re-enter your new email address. That will send you a new confirmation email you can use to complete the change. :)
