E-mail before download?

Hi, we would like to add ‘register e-mail before download’ functionality to our WordPress.com hosted site.
I have not found a plugin that works with wordpress.com that can do this. Do you have any suggestions?

With WordPress.com you can use a contact form for folks to get in touch with you. Once you receive a notice from them you can send the download link via an email reply. There’s not a way to automate this however.
Another option might be to use a newsletter service. The link could be included in the first letter sent out to the follower.
