E-mail data capture plugin

Good morning!
I have noticed that WordPress.com doesn’t have a lightbox popup e-mail data capture plugin, whereas WordPress.org does. Is there any chance a simple data capture plugin will be added to our blogs, so that we can build a newsletter list? It would even be worth it going premium if we got this functionality implemented into our blog.

Actually there is. You can set up an account at MailChimp (or AWeber if you so choose) and collect email addresses there. You can then use the MailChimp Subscriber Pop-up Widget to connect your blog to your MailChimp account. Read more about this here:
The nice thing about an external subscription service is that you have more flexibility as to what you can send.
