E-mail link to an individual post
-
I would like to send an e-mail to a friend with a link to a particular post. However, the post contains the “more” feature that allows content to be temporarily hidden.
When I simply cut and paste the link from the address bar the “more” piece seems to be already displayed. Is there any way to prevent this?
My specific example is:
Thanks in advance.

No. The “More” function is for displaying a post summary on the posts page. It does not work on an individual post page.

OK, shame. Is there any other way to hide part of a post or is the answer to just create two posts?

Forgive me for asking, but if you want to send someone a link to your post, why should that be a half-post only? Why not the full post? If this is an issue, my suggestion is to send a link to the full post along with a “teaser”, simply copy and paste the text before the more tag.

If you have added the feedburner “subscribe by email” button, and have set your RSS feed to show only a summary, not the full post, subscribe to your own feed and then simply forward the email.

The reason I wanted to do this was because the post was a brainteaser. The bit I wanted hidden was the answer. I could e-mail the question but it would still be nice for people who are viewing the post not be given the answer right away.
“Next Page” is the solution to my problem. I think it would be nice if the FAQ on “How do I only show part of a post?” has a reference to “next page” as well as “more”.
Anyway, let me not be ungratious; I am a happy blogger! Thanks very much for everybody’s prompt and courteous help.
