E-Mail Post Videos
-
I’m back to the same question I had the other night: videos don’t load in the e-mail posts when they go out. I know that my personal e-mail settings allow me to see videos in the e-mail from other blogs. But my blog posts are not displaying the video screen, only the link. So, same question: What do I need to change in my settings, etc. to be sure the videos I post are coming through in the e-mails.
Thanks!!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Which email client are you using please? Have you searched out the help site that is for the email client you use?

OK, I’m going to sound really stupid! What do you mean by the term “email client”?
What I’m referring to are blog followers – I signed up to “follow” so I could check how the posts look when they go out to followers. That’s when I discovered the videos don’t load as a whole screen like they appear on the actual blog. But I’m pretty sure my e-mail settings would display the video ’cause I can see them in e-mails I receive from other blogs I follow. So I’m thinking it’s a setting or something I need to do on my end (the blog). Does that make sense?
Thank you!!!

Generally emails don’t format videos the same way that your blog does. Nor do RSS feeds (which is another way that followers might be getting your posts). This is the thing – you can set how you want things to look on your own blog but you have to understand that it won’t be the way they’ll be seen off your blog.
Definition of ‘Email Client’:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_clientGenerally though she’s asking you what email are you using, for instance,Yahoo or Gmail or Outlook Express, as they all do things a little differently from each other.
If you don’t want your posts to be seen differently and aren’t keen on them being seen in their entirety, you can set the emails your followers receive (and future – but not past – RSS feeds) to show only excerpts. That way they’ll have to go to your blog to see them in full. To do that, go to your dashboard, scroll down, click on ‘Settings’ (near bottom of screen at the left), click on ‘Reading’. Scroll down to where you’ll see ‘For each article in a feed, show’ and check the lower option ‘Summary’. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click the ‘Save Changes’ button.
However, if you want people to see full posts in their emails and feeds then you’ll just have to come to terms with the fact that they’ll not be seeing them the way you’d intended them to be seen.
If you don’t understand RSS or feeds, this short YouTube video will explain it. Have your sound on:

Sorry, but in the ‘she’ in ‘she’s asking you what email you are using’ I was referring to Timethief!
