Early Domain Expiration???

  • Unknown's avatar

My billing history in my WordPress account shows that I registered my domain for 1 year in February 2014, yet I received a notification stating my domain had expired. It has not been one year yet, and I have no clue why my domain would expire prior to the 1 year mark.

Can someone from WordPress please help me or at least acknowledge my question???? I do not think it is fair or legal for my domain registration to end prematurely before one year! I paid for an entire year!

a whois shows you registered your domain name on Nov 29, 2012, so it should have renewed recently

I have flagged this for the staff – they can look at your billing and payment records

    Hi there,

Your domain was originally registered on November 29, 2012. However, last year the domain expired and you paid after the expiration date to recover the domain. (That’s why you see a later billing date for last year’s renewal.)

When you recover a domain after it expires, it’s renewed through the original expiration date — that was November 29, 2014. You’ll need to renew the domain as soon as possible if you’d like to keep using it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

That is not fair. I lost the domain on November 29, 2013 and did not have it back until the following February. It should not be renewed through the original billing date. People who tried to access my site during that time were unable to do so using the domain.
