  Is it possible to earn money using the Free Plan that I am currently using?

  I think that you have to do the same thing I do:

  Upgrade your membership to Premium.

  Change your domain by removing .wordpress part from your free domain.

  That is when you are able to monetize your blog site.

  The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.
